Conservation, animal behaviour, and human-animal relationship in zoos. Why is animal welfare so important?

Although zoos are committed to wildlife conservation and have a long-term positive impact on visitors’ attitudes towards wildlife, the question of whether maintaining wild animals in human care is justified remains as animal welfare concerns grow understanding intelligence capacities broadens. Zoos always been subject debate, with conflicts between those who argue they save endangered species educate visitors, rights activists believe that conditions inadequate should not exist. In this review, we do discuss moral side issue, but scientific one. This manuscript aims show scope literature available strengths weaknesses modern regarding welfare. We provide information useful why important society factors influence examined. Some potentially stressful stimuli may diminish zoo animals, while some benefits offer science include opportunity study learn about different aspects necessary improve management practices; possibility breeding has key factor recovery improved their status. Animal an essential part conservation, so efforts be directed ensure best possible quality life optimum all our care.
